3D Information vs 2D Images and Text

3D information is all around us; it is what we perceive our world to be. We then learn to decimate this 3D information into 2D images and text; this is what we learn to do at school, college, and university. However, this will not be necessary when the majority of the information is converted into a 3D database. Environment and realistic 3D models will teach, entertain, and replace the workplace and shopping, etc.

This change will be the major challenge for mankind in the next few years. Those who resist will be the 'architects of decay' as some learned person once said. Like all revolutions change should be managed as culturally we can't overnight change.

The changes will be momentous affecting all areas; engineering, shopping, architecture, education, communication, etc. Thinking in 3D will emerge and maybe a new language will eventually be required to create these 3D Virtual Real Worlds.

The present generation doesn't understand why this 3D world has not happened; as they have been brought up with this concept for the past ten years. Virtual humans and intelligence will help and enable inform us; making life much easier and able to take on more skills than ever before.

See web page Virtual Real Worlds' for a more detailed observation

Ken has spent most of his life in the 2D world and since the invention of the www with all its search engines for retreiving 2D information realised that the a new way must be found to understand all this information. This and other 3D challenges are to be found at http://Mellanium.com/ Ken has spent most of is time working on standardizing engineering processes; trouble was passing the information to others which proved to be impossible as nobody has time to read and understand information provided in text.

Humans Who Are Disrespected Seek Revenge

The easiest way to gain enemies is to disrespect people. Inherently for some reason; Humans who are disrespected more often than not seek Revenge. This should be a warning of what happens in business deals, corporate brainstorming (with regards to hard earned and developed Organizational Capital) or even an outcast member of Society. What is the most unfortunate situation in all of these instances is that the whole of the group loses from the possible ideas and Innovations of these Individuals. A corporate executive who starts to attack their peers at work starts and unending spiral of negativity, thus killing productivity, Innovation and higher thought which is what a company most needs to succeed. In the case of an individual in Society we end up with those who withdraw their talents to the wh ole or plot the demise of the fiber holding the civilization together. We see this with vindictive writers, uni-bomber, small fringe groups promoting their agendas.

Civilizations also attack those who withdraw from the whole and concentrate on their endeavors. As we learn if we imprison, kill, ridicule, out cast, character assassinate or refuse to be open to the flow of thought to those who wish to be heard or have their freedoms to speak out. We are doomed to repeat the past, if we squash free speech and free thought. If we study people like Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Galileo, Copernicus, Plato who in their days met much resistance from many fronts, we see how easy it is to stifle those with great ideas and we may in fact destroy the next Innovation visionary before he or she delivers their greatest contribution to mankind. This is why the flow of thought is so important. We are witnessing a time when we can actually change these situations in our Society and if w e do we will be living in the greatest period of discovery ever known in the history of our species. Can we rise to the occasion; will we dump the pettiness in order to reach for the stars? We must first remove all barriers to the flow of thought. This is the very first event in all instances, first a thought occurs before anything else. We must protect this process, otherwise we will never get to the next step.

As an observer of culture and Society, philosophy and psychology, Innovation and invention, science and religion, industry and philanthropy; I can safely say that although we have done better than any other previous civilization or country, we can do better and we must work on the elements which are needed to improve the flow of thought. Having participated in almost all categories of the human endeavor in our civilization, both from on the inside and outside, it often amazes me how we as a Society over look some of the most obvious quick fixes to the unnecessa ry over indulged sound and fury which slows the forward progression of mankind at every turn. Think about this. The best time to start with this thought would be now.I think? Do you? Can you? Will you; think about it?

The Most Valuable Treasure

Once upon a time, all beings were summoned to a very special place of the universe, with the purpose of finding the most valuable treasure.

People came from different places, with various and great pretensions. They all wanted to be the winner and to show off their power and wealth.

There were some who brought gold, others brought arms, science and technology. While others brought titles and properties. This event lasted for many months, and was so great, that it practically took all the attention of the universe. Everyone was commenting about the event and all the spectators were asking themselves: What will be the most valuable treasure? What will be the greatest power?

Then, like coming from nowhere, an unknown man appeared. He was rather humble and dressed in a very simple tunic. His face was serene and his step was quiet. But this man brought nothing in his hands, he was not carrying any apparent treasure.

Those, who were in charge of the event and the general public were watching him, with arrogance and scorn. Then, when seeing him so fragile and helpless, they decided to make fun of him. And they said: The last man from earth, has come, let's see what important thing, he brings. While, mockingly they were commenting between themselves: We can see that he has no class or foundation. And they put the man in front of everyone, they call the judges, mainly the wisest ones, even the most old in age, and they said: Maybe, you have not realized that there are kingdoms, valuable jewels, gold objects, great instruments of science and of great value, shown in front of you. What can you bring? Are you crazy, perhaps? Or maybe, your ignorance, does not allow you to see? Speak, once and for all, so we can laugh and then, we can choose the most valuable treasure

And the man spoke in front of the multitude. There was total silence. And his words sounded like pearls falling, like angelical harps. And he said: My brothers, judge by yourselves, because I have not come to show off or for personal glory, but to share something with you, that is really valuable.

And then, he opened his tunic and he showed his naked chest. While saying simultaneously:

You can find here, a heart that loves you. And by this love, I wish you all Peace. You can have great wealth , wonderful powers, but if there is no Peace, then, there is nothing. Peace be with you. Because is the glory of Love and is the presence of God in your hearts

And then, he stopped. And if there was total silence before, now it was even deeper. And then, the oldest and wisest of all the judges rose and said: It is very certain, what you just said. How ignorant, we all have been! True wealth is not found in power, or in control, but just as you said: It is Love, which is eternal, true, and which is the promised Peace. You, certainly are the most powerful and the richest man on earth.

And soon, the man ans wered: Be it. But the power is not mine, since everything comes from God. And my science occurs because I only trust in Him.

And the rich, powerful and all the persons, inclined in front of him. Then, arrogance left and Truth was revealed. There is no wealth, if there is no Peace.

A Brief History of Creation

What is the loop of Creation? How is there something from nothing?

In spite of the fact that it is impossible to prove that anything exists beyond ones Perception since any such proof would involve ones Perception (I observed it, I heard it, I thought about it, I calculated it, and etc.), science deals with a so-called objective Reality out there, beyond ones Perception professing to describe Nature objectively (as if there was a Nature or Reality external to ones Perception). The shocking impact of Matrix was precisely the valid possibility that what we believed to be Reality was but our Perception; however, this was presented through showing a real Reality wherein the perceived Reality was a computer simulation.

Many who toy with the idea that perhaps, indeed, we are computer simulations, deviate towards questions, such as, who could create such software and what kind of hardware would be needed for such a feat. Although such questions assume that Reality is our Perception, they also axiomatically presuppose the Existence of an objective deterministic world out there that nevertheless must be responsible for how we perceive our Reality. This is a major mistake emphasizing technology and algorithms instead of trying to discover the Nature of Reality and the structure of Creation. As will be shown in the following, the required paradigm shift from Perception is our Reality fixed within an objective world, to Perception is Reality without the need of an objective world out there, is provided by a dynamic Logical structure. The Holophanic loop Logic is responsible for a consistent and complete worldview that not only describes, but also creates whatever can be perceived or experienced.

Stating that it is impossible to prove the Existence of anything beyond ones Perception is not saying there is nothing beyond Perception, only that if there is anything, then whatever that is, is Indefinite. It could be argued that the Existence of physical laws, the universal Perception that the apple falls to the ground is proof of an objective Reality. However, this universal agreement is also our Perception. It could be argued that if we cannot decide what to perceive, and everybody perceives the same physical Reality, then there must be some lawfulness that dictates how we perceive and therefore, this lawfulness could be external to our Perception. However, this lawfulness, as we shall see later on, is the precise lawfulness that creates Perception, the process of definition, which is not external to Perception (this process creates the perceived and the perceiver, which then gives meaning to this process a loop but about that, later). It could be argued, that hitting our knee on the table whether we believe in the table or not will hurt. The table is external to our body, but not to our Perception. What then is Perception? It is relating, a process of definition, defining and thereby rendering meaningful what has been perceived.

What then is this process of definition? It is creating borders within which ones Perception gains meaning. The word definition comes from the Latin de finire, meaning, making finite or limited. In Hebrew, definition is HAGDARA (הגדרה), meaning, to border. Any definition necessarily implies what the definition is not, or stated differently, to have meaning, whatever is defined explicitly includes the meaning by implicitly excluding everything else. Consequently, to define means to place the defined object within borders that by default create something beyond the borders of the definition. What is this something beyond the defined? The implicitly excluded everything else, or in other words, the Indefinite. The paramount importance of incorporating the Indefinite within a consistent Logical structure cannot be overempha sized. The Indefinite itself is a paradox, and incorporating it within the Holophanic Logical structure engenders the loop of Creation where the dynamic structure of paradoxes is both the creative force of Existence, and also the proof of the necessity of Existence.

To better grasp the impetus of Creation, lets look at the Indefinite and paradoxes. What does Indefinite mean? Anything as long as it is not specified (not defined); anything that appears both within and beyond the borders of the definition and thereby rendering the border superfluous, which means, no border, no definition. If nevertheless we would attempt to define the notion Indefinite, then thats a paradox because if we succeed, then it is defined, which contradicts its meaning its Indefiniteness and the word Indefinite means that it cannot be defined. This is an example of a paradox, that in essence means, if it is what it is, then it is not what it is, yet if it is not what it is, then it is what it is. A paradox is a creature that consists of a structure (how it is defined, the dynamic process on its way to stabilization) that contradicts its significance (what it is, the stabilized entity). What characterizes a paradox is the motion between its structure and significance, where the structure implies that its significance contradicts its structure, and vice versa.

Another example of a paradox would be wholeness. Wholeness (totality, infinite, boundless) can only be wholeness if we can find a way to define it so that it includes everything and there is nothing beyond it. However, if we define wholeness, then to have meaning, it must be bordered within the walls of the definition, which implies that there is something beyond this border, in which case it is not wholeness. Or in more formal language, wholeness is only wholeness if it is not wholeness, which is an inconsistency. If we are satisfied with that, then we have completed the definition of wholeness. Howeve r, if we try to include the beyond created by our earlier definition within the borders of our next attempt at defining wholeness, then we gain a new definition of wholeness, which by the sheer structure of the process of defining creates a new beyond. In this case, the process of defining wholeness will be consistent but incomplete, and wholeness will remain Indefinite.

Contemplating the paradox of Creation, the ancient Egyptian myth of Creation springs to mind, the myth of the self-creating God, Amun (or Amon). Amun masturbated and swallowed his semen, after which he spit it out in the form of a ball, thereby impregnating his mother, the sky. And only then, was he born. Thus Amun was his own father. Those pious who discovered the illustrated version of this myth in Karnak covered up the erect phallus of Amun, and with it, this story of Creation was laid into obscurity. The Holophanic model of Creation could regard this Egyptian myth as Amun retromorphously creating h imself. I have coined the word retromorphous to mean, defining in retrospect, turning non-being into the potential of whatever the observation is made from, or in other words, creating the past from the present, creating the source from its outcome, which is the basis of complexity in the context of the loop Logic. That is, only after Amun was born can he give meaning to his mother, the potential from which he emanated and to the process that created him (as represented by masturbation and incest) whereby he was born. Of course, neither the sky nor the masturbating Amun have meaning until Creation takes place de facto and Amun emerges. I find this an enticing illustration of the basic paradox of Existence.

So how can there be something from nothing? What is nothing? Nothing is what didnt turn into the potential of something. If there was something from nothing, then that nothing would have turned into the potential of something, because when we ask, how is there someth ing from nothing, we ask this question from something, when something already exists. If we take a deeper look at nothing, well discover that nothing is a paradox. Any definition is something, so if we defined nothing, then it would become something, which contradicts its essence of being nothing. Another way of looking at nothing would be by means of it being something that is meaningless. That is, nothing could be something that does not relate and that no thing or no one relates to. That is, if there was something totally alone in the universe, then that would be nothing, but it would be meaningless. If such existed, its Existence would be external to our Perception, and as such, this nothing would be Indefinite.

We said that the Indefinite could be anything, as long as it is not specified (not defined). However, if we nevertheless tried to define nothing (the Indefinite), what would we get then? Since nothing is non-definable, it is transparent as the object of our inquiry. So when we attempt to define it, all we have is what we put into it, which is the process of definition. Nothing stayed nothing, we didnt define it, only made the process of definition explicit. Nothing gains meaning when we fail to define it; but having tried, we are left with a bonus, a something, which is our process of defining nothing. Creation of something from nothing is not a function of defining something, but a function of attempting to define nothing. And then, if that process of definition which already is an Existence looks back at its origins, if this process of defining investigates into its own genesis, then what does it see? It sees itself. It sees the process of definition self-reference.

If there is nothing external to Perception, then this process of definition is the overall wholeness, the creator of meaning when it can relate to itself. However, to have meaning, the process of definition has to be defined; this definition would be a s elf-referential quasi-infinite and continuous process of establishing borders that create the Indefinite beyond that establishes borders creating the Indefinite beyond that establishes borders which means, wholeness would continuously and forever fail to define itself while succeeding to define something anything but itself.

Of course, both the totally defined and the totally Indefinite are idealized notions that would be inconsistent with the Holophanic loop Logic, nor can they be found in Nature. The totally Indefinite would be the total meaningless nothing, the kind of non-being that cannot be fathomed because if we would think about it, it would already be something. On the other hand, there can be no total definition either. I have used the term Uncertainty of sameness to describe the Logical impossibility of total definition. A defined entity can be said to have reached sameness it is the same as itself which means that it is, it exists as something definite, no matter which parameters defined it. However, no sooner does our object achieve sameness than the Uncertainty of sameness raises its ugly head. Could it have been defined differently? Yes, of course. Could it have additional parameters? Yes, of course. Could it have been defined more precisely? Yes, of course. This Uncertainty of sameness is the Indefinite included in the definition, which is the result of including the tools of definition in the definition. Since a can only be defined as a with meaning if it implies not-a (the Indefinite beyond the borders of the definition), and since a can only have meaning as a because it is different from everything else (the everything else is the Indefinite beyond the borders, which actually gives meaning to a), the meaning of a depends on not-a.

When the meaning of something depends on the Indefinite, on what our defined object is not, then this Indefinite is necessarily included in the process of definition. This Logical imp lication that Perception of meaning is only possible if and only if the Indefinite is included within the Perception is the reason why the 19th century dream of a consistent and complete axiomatic system with only well defined (explicit) empty signs had to fail (see more about that in my article, The Loop Logic). In spite of the fact that Logic is the fundament of algorithms and computer science, it had neither the aspiration nor the ability to be connected to the real world precisely because its propositions were so anemic regarding meaning. In the effort to exclude any hint of the Indefinite, Logical inference was confined to a binary type of world of true and false and lacking any correlation with life and experiencing.

However, including the Indefinite in the process of definition not only makes the loop Logic the fundament of Existence, but determines the necessity of Existence. With the birth of Holophany, Heideggers question, Why is there anything at all, rather than nothing? becomes irrelevant. When Existence is relations, and relating is the act of perceiving, and perceiving is the process of definition, then Existence is the overall lawfulness, the isomorphous lawfulness of the process of definition the loop of Creation. What is being perceived, what is being stabilized, which significance is brought to the foreground from the amorphous background of the Indefinite, depends on the non-linear rules of complex interactions. Thus the loop Logic emphasizes the Creation of essents rather than their interactions.

Is there a lawfulness responsible for any and every Existence? An electron and a dog are very different creatures; so what invisible lawfulness is responsible for the Existence of both? What kind of lawfulness would fulfill such demands? The answer is, isomorphism the same Logical inner structure in entirely different representations. Whether an electron, a dog or the weather, each could be a different realization of the same inner Logical structure. Creation of anything is the Creation of meaning, which is an act of definition. The act of definition attempting to define itself is Consciousness. So Consciousness, or the soul if you wish, is not some invisible copy of our body carrying our identity, but the lawfulness of Creation expressed as our individual qualitative essence. Of course, it has been endlessly stated that we are God, that we are parts of God, and similar phrases. This is true, but true in the sense that God is the lawfulness that unfolds Creation, and this lawfulness is inherent in all Creation including the creatures therein. It could be argued, that a soul, a person is more than mere definitions and intellect. If this Logic is the Logic of anything and everything, then it should be able to delineate the Logical structure of experience as well. Indeed.

Anything that has meaning has to be defined, which places it somewhere on the scale between the continuous and the discrete, between the Indefinite and the definite. The Indefinite, continuous, infinite tends in the direction of the meaningless, whereas the meaningful is at best imprecise. Experience is the process of attempting to define the Indefinite. When we try to capture an experience in a description, we are actually defining our attempt at defining the Indefinite. The experience is continuous whereas its description, the definition is discrete. Just as we can never define wholeness, we can never define experience.

Any description, any definition, is by Nature discrete, whereas the net experience is continuous. So when we have an experience or Perception and we become aware of having that experience, then we give it meaning by defining what it is. By doing this we create a discrete replica of the experience, yet the experience remains continuous and non-definable, non-discretizable. Experience is connected to learning. The person encounters something new. How do we know tha t something is new? Because it is inconsistent with our system. So when we interact with it, we have to integrate it, to assimilate it into our system. If we met something that was not new to the system, then our system would recognize it as part of itself. When that recognition does not occur, the system is interacting with something new. That is the impact. The system adjusts to include the new that is the change. Ones selfhood is the path of changes following ones experiences.

Our knowledge of the experience whatever it might be that we experience makes it exist for us. We could say, one only experiences when one is aware of experiencing. How do we know that we are aware of experiencing something? By experiencing it, we experience the awareness of experiencing. In this sense, experience and awareness of the experience, experiencing the awareness of the experience, being aware of experiencing the awareness of the experience, etc. is an infinitely continuous chain, which is what defines what experience is (not the interpretation of a specific experience, but experience in its general sense). And thats the definition of experience: an infinite loop of the process of becoming aware.

When nothing is the limit of both the totally Indefinite and the totally defined, then thats like a circle of going from something to nothing to something to nothing, etc. The going here means Perception. Nothing is only a notion that has meaning if it has been perceived, in fact, a paradox. If it really is nothing, then it cannot be defined, and hence, it has no meaning. Yet if I relate to it, then it is something. So whenever I relate to nothing, whenever I say, Creation of something from nothing, that nothing has meaning for me, and hence, it is significance it is something just like any other something. That is, the structure of nothing is the same structure as that of something. Essentially, something from nothing is formation, not Creation, sinc e nothing is also something. Then what is Creation? Creation is rather the Creation of nothing from something, because Creation is the process of definition, and when we define, we create the Indefinite beyond the definition, which at its limit is nothing, and only then can we have something from nothing Oh yes, the loop. A true loop is only such if it contains its own source. If nothing can be proven to exist external to Perception, then Logic must be a loop, and Existence is a Logical necessity inferred by the loop.

Including the Indefinite in the process of definition has far reaching consequences. It means that the tools of the definition are necessarily included in the definition. It means that meaning can only occur when there is both definition and also experience. It means that Consciousness (whether it succeeds to define or not) must be part of science or any so-called objective endeavor. It means that any and all Perception includes experience. The interactio n with the Indefinite, the experience, is what gives meaning to the defined. Perception, meaningful definition, can only occur in a highly flexible complex system that can learn and change. Thats the difference between us and an electron, which only has fixed relations, and consequently, limited interactions. An electron always succeeds in defining, or it would be more correct to say, it can only interact with what it succeeds in defining. If it encounters the Indefinite, it assumes a state of superposition.

Where is God in the loop of Creation? If we wanted to define God, the totality, we could not define God, because by the act of definition we would create the beyond, what is beyond God, which contradicts Gods totality. Therefore, no definition of God would do justice to God, and every such definition would truncate Gods wholeness. If God is indefinable, then God is Indefinite. If God is Indefinite, then I create God by the implication of the act of definition any definition, because every definition creates the beyond, the Indefinite beyond the borders of the definition. In that sense, this is consistent with the statement that I create God by my Perception (definition). This does not say that I perceive God, but that my Perception implies the Existence of the Indefinite (God). This means that if I perceive a dog, this Perception implies the Existence of God.

If I perceive that I perceive, then that implies the Existence of God. If I perceive dust, a table, an idea, whatever, then that implies the Existence of God. If I experience, then that implies the Existence of God. Thats because any Existence implies the Existence of God. And thats because any Existence is such if it relates or is related to, if it has meaning, if even partially it has been defined, which means, its mere definition implies the Indefinite beyond the borders of the definition, it implies God, the indefinable. So one cannot directly perceive God (perhaps tha t is why it was stated in the Bible that no one could see Gods face and live = exist no man shall see me and live Exodus 33: 20), but only know about God by implication, which means, the implication of the Indefinite God is what attributes meaning to any Existence.

However, God does not equal Indefinite, but the process that implies the Existence of the Indefinite is what could be said to be God, since thats the process of Creation. This is the process of Creation that both creates something, Existence, and also nothing, the Indefinite. This is why this Logic is a loop. Clara Szalai

No Human Can Ever Travel Faster Than the Speed of Light

Some believe that no matter what no human can ever travel faster than the speed of light. Recently a member in a think tank became embroiled in controversy when he stated this in such a matter of factly way. But he did seem to indicate that one could travel in consciousness as an observer in time.

Another member of the think tank stated that we could send pArticles or seeds of life in time on a chemical laser beam. The protagonist of the heated debate found these thoughts interesting and the think tanker who had stated that it would be possible to send pArticles back in time said;

It is intriguing that you find my tho ughts on traveling at speeds greater than the speed of light interesting, how so? Your consciousness matrix is an interesting use of compound words indeed. Time may very well be something that our mind does.

The aggressive protagonist then stated that; If a human being ever succeeds in traveling at a speed greater than the speed of light, he will no longer be human because he will undergo a change in consciousness and all these theories by Einstein and others will not apply.

I completely disagree with this notion, if a human being travels faster than the speed of light, then he would most likely either be light or pure energy, as per Einsteins theories so in this case the theories do indeed hold true to your sentence and until you re-structure this sentence you have validated Einsteins theory of relativity not nixed it.

Do you ever think about time travel or the speed of light? Is this something you wish to discuss? If so do you know where you can go to dis cuss it? What are your thoughts on time, space, energy, mass and light? Let us know on that and think on this in 2006.

Maryland = Merry Land Just Like San Francisco = Girlie Men

Maryland is the land of liberals and Democrats, who really believe that socialism is better than capitalism and they really believe that our republic would be better off if we redistributed the wealth like a bunch of Communists. In fact most people in Maryland are so full of themselves and their political correctness that they will not even hear are common sense of reality.

After all these are the folks that gave school credit to students who marched in the Illegal Immigration rallies. Why is Maryland so Democrat and such a blue state? You would think that smart people would understand how capitalism works and understand common sense? But they don't be and they don't seem to understand how similar they are to the girlie men who run the politics of San Francisco CA.

Maryland equals Merry Land, LA LA Land if you will. When talking with a Maryland liberal you must put up with their bush bashing and all their comments about the war in Iraq. And you must listen t hrough their liberal one-liners, which they have memorized and you really can't talk to them about much of anything.

If you try to argue with these people using real facts they revert back to political correctness and start talking about perception based reality as if their reality is the correct reality and your reality is perception based. Folks there is only one reality and you should be able to see that no matter which perspective you're looking from by simply taking a look around and looking through the other perspectives and that takes about two minutes of human brain power to do that.

Don't bother talking with a Maryland liberal they are out to launch and just don't get it. Having been to every single city in the United States of America over 10,000 in population over the last four years I know close-minded perception based thinking when I see it, we all do.

I know what people are like with blind folders on when all the talk about is their religion . But these folks in Maryland are seriously dangerous to our country and the future of our nation. Don't trust a Maryland liberal and don't listen to their gibberish or their academic reasoning, as it is a false reality. Consider this in 2006.

Industrial Labor Versus Domestic Labor

Introduction

When an economic treatise is composed, there is almost no doubt that it is one based on a system of free, or somewhat limited, trade. The reason for that is quite easy to understand. Economics is a siocological study: it seeks to grasp and understand the fluctuation and mechanics of the interaction between people of the same society. In an economic system wheret he people are free to buy or sell anything they own at any price they want, there is a fervent interest of sociologists to understand what the rules of exchange are -- such sociologists who are known as economists. Questions will be raised: Why does this person sell this at this price? We must understand the interests of other parties: consumers, workers, competitors, and the rules that give economic strength to one party or another, or what causes one party to increase or decrease in the number of members.

The nature of people, in groups, a society, is studied by Economics. In a Comm unist economy, many of these questions are mute. While it may be examined by sociologists, to understand what kind of society it would be, it is almost completely ignored (and even despised) by economists. Why is that? Because the elements often traditional in economic study, such as competition or rent trends or price fluctuation, are gone. Private interest being able to regulate the entire economy is the basis of a Capitalist economy. In a Communist economy, the price, production, distribution, and consumption of goods is decided by public interest. The primary element of economic study, private interests, is eliminated, for the most part. But, in a Communist economy, the exchange of wealth between members can still be discussed. It is in this treatise that I hope to expand upon the idea of Communist Economics.

The Treatise: The Question of the Allocation of Labor

Before continuing in this treatise, I feel that it is important to define a Communist syst em accurately. By a Communist economy, I mean a system of production and distribution, where each person is paid according to the value of their labor. All of this is being regulated by the public, instead of being regulated by the private interest -- as would be the case if it was a Capitalist economy. With that said, I continue with this economic treatise of Communism.

When something is produced and sold as a commodity, it can be sold in various forms. Of the particular form that I am talking about, I mean the readiness of its use. Several hundred planks of wood and one or two tons of cement are less ready to use than a house; frozen vegetables are less ready to be eaten than a warm, cooked meal. Thus we have a variety of forms of readiness to consume when an item is sold. The production that goes into a commodity when produced to be distributed, such as a person cooking their own meal, this production I have decided to call domestic labor.

The importance of comparing these types of labor can be seen in a Communist economy. Since it is the collective that determines what types of industry to erect, they must choose whether to sell houses, or only the materials to build a house -- whether to sell clothes or only fabric. When examining the effectiveness of industrial labor versus domestic labor, there is no doubt that industrial labor tends to be much more productive. However, materials to produce something else - while of lesser exchange value - it may still be more desired. For example, a great deal of preparable food is probably more desired than already cooked food when going on a trip or a journey for days. Also, a person may find pleasure in building their own home, or cooking their own food. Sometimes those things which are considered irksome labor to some are actually a joy or routine happiness for others.

Increasing the preparedness of a commodity means the more industrial labor must be done by the whole. Allow me to demonstrate with an example. In one region, there are 2,000 members of the work force, half working in agriculture and the other half in manufacturing. Each worker works 1 and 1/2 hours a day, but no product is sold ready to consume -- it requires domestic labor to make it consummable (and by consume here, I mean use). Food is sold frozen, cloth and sewing materials are sold, and perhaps to avoid selling an unprepared commodity that not everyone is capable fo preparing themselves, apartments are rented. In the agricultural industry, there are four sectors: two producing wheat, those producing vegetables, and those producing fruit. Each sector has 250 workers. The manufacturing industry is similarly divided into four sectors: one sector converting food (such as wheat) into a more consummable form, one sector in extracting and refining metals, and 2 sectors producing a variety of goods, such as bicycles, toys, street signs, and other goods. Each sector has 250 laborers. In both industries, all sectors, each worker works 1.5 hours.

Each agricultural worker is capable of producing 3 meals for every half hour of labor, thus totalling 9 meals a day for their labor. This means 4.5 meals are available to each agricultural worker and 4.5 meals are available to each manufacturing worker (since 1,000 workers working 1.5 hours each day to produce 9 meals a day, that means 9,000 meals a day to the 2,000 working population). And though it is true that agriculture usually reaps its harvest not everyday, but at one time in the year, I am overlooking this fact to simplify my scenario.

Each industrial worker is capable of producing 3 pairs of clothes, 3 moderately valuable items of enjoyment (such as a toy or an electronic device), or 3 pieces of furniture every half hour of labor. Since each industrial labor works 1 and 1/2 hours, they will produce roughly: 9 pairs of clothing per textile worker per day, 9 toys per worker per day, and 9 pieces of furniture per worker per day. Again, I admit this may seem overly simplified, but if this is the impression the reader is getting, understand it is only because I do not want to draw a too complicated scenario. So, for 1,000 industrial laborers, each day, there is produced, 3,000 pairs of clothing, 3,000 items of enjoyment, and 3,000 pieces of furnuter. 1,500 of each item is distributed to the industrialist workers and 1,5000 of each item is distributed to the agricultural laborers.

Thus we have a vision of an economy in which each person is satisfied. Though each person's indsutry, of 1 and 1/2 hours of labor each day, each person has their needs satisfied. But, to demonstrate what economic fluctuation means in a Communist economy, let's throw in some variables to this scenario I above described.

Imagine that a new need is universally desired by this hypothetical Communist economy. Let's say that each person gains an interest in music , a very strong interest. Let's say that a factory by this population is activated to produce music CDs. Whatever the production rate and whatever the desire to consume is, let's say that it requires 500 laborers -- musicians, producers, manufacturing workers, etc.. The agricultural industry loses 250 workers and so does the manufacturing industry. What is the end result? Well, each industry of manufacturing and agriculture still need to produce the same amount with fewer workers. With 1,000 workers working 1.5 hours each or 1,500 labor hours a day, each industry is capable of satisfying the needs of society. Now each industry has 750 workers, and if they worked 1.5 hours each day, then they only have 1,125 labor hours each day, not satisfying the needs of the population by 375 work hours per day. Each person would have to work 2 hours a day, an additional 1/2 hour. Of course, they are trading this additional half hour for more luxury, particularly what the other 50 0 workers are doing to produce music products. Here we can see the obvious fluctuation of the economy among a Communist society. Perhaps the next year, technology will take a leap, and each worker must work only 1 hour. Or perhaps a natural disaster stirkes, and for 2 months, they need to work 3 hours a day to rebuild. Maybe the interest of society in a product or service will wax or wane.

I have accurately described the relation of industrial labor to other industrial labor. But, as the title of this treatise denotes, we must understand industrial labor versus domestic labor. For satisfying the need of food, an industrial laborer -- with the aid of technology and specialization -- would require 2 minutes of labor to perpare food. In a home, a meal of adequate satisfaction would require 15 to 20 minutes, possibly more, to prepare, that is to say, with the use of domestic labor. The question concerning how accurate this hypothetical comparison is should need not much be addressed. It is overwhelmingly clear that industrial labor is by far more productive than domestic labor. One man cooking food will perhaps be able to make 20 or 30 meals in one day, if he works every hour. But only a few people with the aid of technology and specialization will be able to make hundreds or thousands in one day -- such is the case with fast food restaurants. So, then, if this society, of 2,000 people requires 3 meals a day, in terms of domestic labor, this means 1 hour of personal labor a day. However, if each meal is produced via industrial labor, this means 6 minutes of labor per person per day. In total, this is 2,000 hours (120,00 minutes) of domestic labor for 2,000 people. But, if industrial labor was employed, it would be a total of 200 hours (12,000 minutes) of industrial labor for the 2,000 people. However, if the population opted to have all of their food prepared by industrial labor, thus saving them a great deal of labor and incr easing productivity by ten times, then each person must labor more industrially. A small force of people would be working to prepare this food and that means others in those other industries must work more, just like I demonstrated in the section where a music industry sprang up in this society. A person's total labor (domestic and industrial) might be 5 hours a day, if they prepared their own meals, but if food was prepared industrially, a person's total labor might be only 4 hours a day -- thus, saving them time and increasing productivity.

The next question that arrises is whether society would want to do solely industrial labor and no domestic labor. For some individuals, the normal, routine of day-to-day life make up desirable acts. Marx once said...

What he [the worker produces for himself is wages; and the silk, the gold, and the palace are resolved for him into a certain quantity of necessaries of life, perhaps into a cotton jacket, into copper coins, and into a basement dwelling. And the labourer who for 12 hours long, weaves, spins, bores, turns, builds, shovels, breaks stone, carries hods, and so on - is this 12 hours' weaving, spinning, boring, turning, building, shovelling, stone-breaking, regarded by him as a manifestation of life, as life? Quite the contrary. Life for him begins where this activity ceases, at the table, at the tavern, in bed. The 12 hours' work, on the other hand, has no meaning for him as weaving, spinning, boring, and so on, but only as earnings, which enable him to sit down at a table, to take his seat in the tavern, and to lie down in a bed. If the silk-worm's object in spinning were to prolong its existence as caterpillar, it would be a perfect example of a wage-worker. [Wage Labour and Capital, by Karl Marx, December of 1847, edited by Friedrich Engels, chapter 3: What are Wages? How are they Determined?

The worker's day does not start when he wakes, but it starts once his industrial l abor ends. Those acts of domestic labor, with cooking, cleaning, and maintenance of house, car, or items make up a part of their life. Perhaps those 6 minutes of industrial are less desirable than 1 hour of domestic labor, because the industrial labor is purely irksome (for most) and domestic labor is part of day-to-day life. Of course, the opposite may be true. A person may know that domestic labor is unproductive and believe that only through industrial labor should we work, as a sort of work pride ethic. But, then again, all workers must realize that every moment not working, whether industrial or domestic, is a moment to let them relax, enjoy themselves, on engage in some hobby or recreational activity -- or, something to challenge themselves in. There is a fact here that must be recognized. Communism must be practised with a respect to the fact that every human being is different, with different lifestyles and interests. To force people to live in a way that doe s not recognize them as different, is unjust and without appeal to either reason or justice. To quote Karl Marx again...

In a higher phase of communist society, after the enslaving subordination of the individual to the division of labor, and therewith also the antithesis between mental and physical labor, has vanished; after labor has become not only a means of life but life's prime want; after the productive forces have also increased with the all-around development of the individual, and all the springs of co-operative wealth flow more abundantly -- only then then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be crossed in its entirety and society inscribe on its banners: From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs! (Italics mine.) [Critique of the Gotha Programme, by Karl Marx, 1875, part 1.

Thus brings me to my last scenario to be brought up with the Communist economy. In this economy of 2,000 workers, the previous fact must be realized and understood: each person is different, with different needs. One person may be very Thoreau-like in their needs: they only wneed sustenance and no luxury items. Being allowed to explore a natural world and indulge in all emotions as all that they need to feel happy and live their lives contently. Some people need a low amount of lxury produced by industrial labor, and are easily pleased by it. Others need a moderate amount, while still others want large amounts, and finally some want estates of luxury to feel content and happy in their life. Each person is different in their needs. Now, assuming that the extremes of needs for luxury contain the least amount of people and the moderate levels of the need for luxury is where most people can be found. With all this set, what would the economy in this Communist society look like?

With 2,000 people, let's say that 100 of them desire no luxury and 100 desire estates of wealth -- this accounts for both ends of the sp ectrum. Then for those who require only a small amount of luxury, there are 400, and those who require large amounts are also 400. Then, finally, there are 1,000 who want only moderate amounts.

Those who want nothing but sustenance work 1 hour, those wo want a little luxury work 2 hours, moderate luxury 3 hours, high luxury 4 hours, extreme high luxury 5 hours, totalling 5,000 industrial labor hours a day from these 2,000 varied laborers. Now, let's examine the output of each class of laborers. Those who want nothing but the bare sustenance of living work 1 hour each day. If in agriculture, that means 6 meals a day. That means they eat the 3 meals, and the other 3 meals are traded for necessities like clothing or housing (obviously money -- as much as it is detested by the labor groups -- will allow for easier exchanges). If these bare sustenance workers labored in manufacturing for 1 hour a day, that would mean 6 manufacturing items, of which 3 they keep and th e other 3 are traded for food. The 3 that they do keep are, most likely, necessities such as clothing and housing. Those who want minimal luxury work 2 hours a day. If in agriculture, that means 12 meals a day. That means they eat 3 to 6 meals, and the the rest are traded for necessities and luxuries. The translation would mean 6 to 9 manufacturing products, 3 necessities, the other 3 to 6 being items of luxury. If in manufacturing, the 2 hours a day of labor would translate into 12 products. Some are kept, others are traded for food and other necessities. Those who want moderate wealth, the largest class, will be working 3 hours a day. In agriculture, that will translate to 18 meals, most of it probably exchanged for luxury items. In manufacturing, that will translate to 18 products, some of it exchanged for food. Those who desire much wealth will be working 4 hours a day. In agriculture, that means 24 meals, most of it exchanged. In manufacturing, 24 items, so me of it exchanged. And, finally, those who want large estates of wealth work 5 hours a day. In agriculture, producing 30 meals, or in manufacturing, producing 30 products, all of which may be exchanged.

The essential ethic of a Communist society would be this: you will be proportionately rewarded for the work that you do. Those who do little work will receive little pay, as those who do much work will receive much pay. The premises that I operate upon are based on justice and fairness. With this treatise complete, I hope I have offered a good theoretical consideration of a Communist economy: its fluctuations, its dynamics, and its very basic mechanics.
