Empathy Sets Humans Apart from Animals

What makes humans different from that of the animal kingdom? Many who have ever been to a sports bar might say; Well not much! And without laughing too hard at that joke, think on it a second, is there really any difference in human and animal behavior? I mean, if animals could take, there is no telling how big that fish was or how many tough down passes they caught in high school?

Recently in an online think tank this subject re-surfaced and to catch you up to speed here are the basic thoughts concerning this topic.

Now then on the subject of empathy a commenter and think tanker estimated that this topic was much to large and complex than these two small Articles and thus said that their conclusion was not sufficient. Indeed they bring up a good point and some good questions. In fact they must please excuse the brevity of the subject. I had considered this topic at length after much reading and research (reviewing white papers) and then was confronted by a fundamentalist Christian at a coffee shop which re-invigorated my thoughts to put down a short piece on the subject for posting to the masses, not the scientific community on an online website.

Of course I welcome any intellectual thought on this subject and I concur that the information and lack of true v erifiable data sets in this short piece fail to make a scientific case for my overall findings. Perhaps we should call this a simple observations, which is in direct contrast to humankinds outrageous ego-centric claims to be something so special and above the rest that they are somehow divine. I believe such embellished notions are nothing more than a fog, preventing mankind from the reality here on Earth.

They commenter stated; The reasoning model demonstrated above (or bellow) is simply insufficient or to narrow to evaluate the problem in question.

Indeed, although the other side of the argument that man is a special being is ridiculous. And when forced to explain this claim, a human, comes up with the answer of Empathy is what sets us apart is truly absurd. Perhaps you have thoughts on this subject too, as it is quite fascinating isnt it. Consider this in 2006.
